Yoga + Community Ayurvedic Meal (Supporting Climate Grief)

Gain tools to use in daily life to support current and future grief, when it inevitably comes through. This is a space to acknowledge and process grief related to our human-caused climate crisis, in a group setting, sangha.

We’ll start by spending time getting to know each other and in opening ritual. You’re invited to bring an object to help build an altar for the class. This will be followed by a gentle movement practice, guided meditation, pranayama, asana (gentle, flow, and restorative). We will have time for rest and integration as well as time for sharing and witnessing each other.

This offering doesn't provide a false sense of hope or propose an individual solution to a systemic issue. This offering does hold space to practice yoga as transformational healing practices that can offer ongoing guidance for moving these energies through the body; as a way to take care of ourselves and stay engaged.

For in-person folks, we’ll close our time with an Ayurvedic meal to savor together. This will be prepared and introduced with care and love by Danielle Hanna of Living Arts Ayurveda. This is offered as another tool and support for processing grief: sangha and food as medicine. The qualities of the food will be prepared to align with supporting bodies process grief as well as connect with local foods, the land and humans as nature around the Fall Equinox.

Note: The livestream-only version of this offering will include the practice only and not the shared meal. All participants will receive a recording of the practice for future use. (This offering is an evolution of the 'Holding Space for Climate Grief' workshop held over the past couple years, co-created with Danielle Jones; informed and strongly influenced by many teachers, poets, writers, and healers.)
